Traditional mental health counseling involves a structured assessment, diagnosis, counseling goals and a treatment plan, as well as evidence based health care delivery, psychological education, monitoring outcomes and more. These are routine practices and are suitable and beneficial interventions for people suffering from complicated emotional disorders and behavioral disruptions. As well as effectively addressing active suicidal or homicidal thoughts, sexual assault, child abuse, domestic violence, alcohol and substance abuse and serious mental health conditions.
Conventional mental health counseling is covered by health insurance because the above mentioned practices are required by all insurance companies and must be performed by a licensed mental health provider. The insurance company dictates how treatment is delivered, and this is where the term “managed care” originated.
This approach to healthcare is intended to protect the patient from needless procedures and treatments that have not been researched and proven under scientific methods to be effective. As well as ensuring that the person providing the care has been vetted and has received the proper education, training and licensing requirements.
Inspired Flow offers what would be considered non-medical services, which is why health insurance is not accepted. However, education, extensive training and experience as well as professional state licensing for counseling have not been set aside. Even though the insurance industry is not holding Inspired Flow accountable to its standards of practice, an affordable and quality level of care is still being maintained.
Even though Inspired Flow does not diagnose, monitor or directly address depression, anxiety or other mental health issues, it offers a valuable and powerful experience that incorporates aspects of mental health counseling with alternative healing techniques that bring together the conscious and unconscious and the mind and body.
